Difference between HPLC and Gas Chromatography techniques used in pharmaceutical industries.

Gas chromatography and high performance Liquid chromatography are used to identify both compounds but are used for both different purposes because their work and usage differ.

Gas Chromatography and High Performance Liquid Chromatography are a separate technique used in the distribution of analyzes in two phases (in mobile stage and in the stationary phase) from compounds-based analysts to getting specific aliens. Mobile phase is part of chromatography that operates and is usually sampled and stable state in which the adsorption content does not move and does not contain it. Chromatography is a large analytical technique in chemistry.

In the modern chemistry of chemistry, gas chromatography and high performance LIQUID chromatography are the key technologies in analytical chemistry. In earlier analysis, techniques like ion exchange chromatography, affinity chromatography, and thin-layer chromatography were used. Both of these techniques are effective for the separation of analysis. Two techniques have differentiated in different sub types given below:

1) Mobile phase:

The main difference between the two methods is the difference between their mobile platform and the one who ultimately uses every technology.

The name suggests that gas is used as a mobile phase in gas chromatography. The stable state is either liquid or solid. On the other hand, High Performance Liquid Chromatography uses a liquid and stable state of analysis as its mobile stage.

2) Nature of analyte:

Analysis of gas chromatography compared to high performance liquid chromatography, which analyzes samples that are either fluctuating or semi-volatile because they are less than volatile specimens of unstable compounds, as HPLC analyzes. Informally, HPLC analyzes samples that are simply liquid in nature.

3) Instrumentation:

Both of these methods use chromatography columns, but there is a difference in their size. Uses gas chromatography columns, which are lengthy and thick. Generally, the chromatography of 10 to 30 meters in length is small and thin, which is basically 5 to 25 cm long.

4) Detection:

After analytical analysis of chromatography, the electrodynamics need to be composed. These search methods are required which are strict to get the perfect sample type and volume. Each analytical system has its own method of testing the sample. For gas chromatography, two types of detectors are used extensively - e.g. Flame Ionization Detector (FID), which is used only for the detection of hydrocarbons and thermal constituent detectors (TCD) which is ubiquitous and is invented for any substance.

In the case of high performance liquid-chromatography, the only method of use is through ultraviolet spectrometric detector, which uses the principle of absorption and transmission to detect different types of spectrometry, a sample source of light and a photography reader. The number of light passing through the sample is recorded by a computer detector as a photon. Different patterns have different sucking rates.

5) Cost:

Finally, there is an element that defines the cost of each technology. The gas chromatography technique is less costly than the HPLC system, so many equipment is used to increase its high-grade pump and reduce time required for sample analysis. . This makes gas chromatography more useful than HPLC.
